I have always been scared to carry a high deductible on my auto insurance policy, but after reading this article it DOES make sense to do so. I mean, who wants to PAY more when you have an insurance claim, that it the job of the insurance company…right?

I thought the deductible amount was always paid by me if and when I got into an accident. I was not aware that the deductible is only paid when the claim is paid by my carrier.

Since I have not had an accident in a long time (knock on wood) increasing my deductible would have put a lot of money in my pocket over the years.

Here is the article I am referring to.
